*Projects!!
Thank you note chain: Sometimes a simple "thank you" can improve someone's self-esteem and mental health, even if its for the day. Send a "Thank You" note or card to three people who have made a positive difference in your life. :)
•Open with a thank you.
•Be specific. Why are you thanking this person? Use a specific story or helpful thing that they give you.
•Upon closing, tell the person to think of three people they would also like to thank, and ask them to do the same!! :D
Create and donate blankets for animal shelters: Every animal deserves to be comfortable, including the ones living in animal shelters, waiting to be adopted, right? Make the animals' cages more comfortable by creating blankets for donations.
Gather your materials.
Collect (old) towels, fleece, or sweatshirts that can serve as blanket material.
Wash them!
You don't want to donate dirty blankets. (gross!)
Tear 'em up.
Rip the edges of your rectangular or square material into strips.
Braid them together.
Twist three strips together over and over again until you have a visually appealing border. You could also knot each individual strip if you prefer.
Make designs.
If you know how to sew or stitch, create your own designs and borders for your blankets!! :D
Find a shelter.
Call up your nearest location and arrange a time for you to send in or drop off the blankets.
* 8 Ways to Volunteer!!
Perform for a nursing home!
If you love to sing, dance, or play an instrument, why not share that with others? Call up a local nursing home, and see if you can arrange to come perform for the people who live there. They’ll be happy to have the entertainment!
Volunteer at a hospital!!
Interested in a career in medicine? Check out the volunteering opportunities at a hospital near you. No, you’re not gonna get to operate on anyone, but you can help keep the place clean and organized. Or you can keep patients company, if you like to chat. Either way, just hangin’ around the hospital will give you a taste of what a job there would be like, and it’s a great way to find out if that’s what you wanna do with your life.
Go Green!
If you love the environment and haven’t heard of the Sierra Student Coalition, you should check it out! It’s a national organization that’s dedicated to saving the Earth through education. And the best part? It’s led by students! So find the chapter nearest you, and start so you can help preserve the planet. <3
Volunteer at a museum!
You loved going to museums and aquariums when you were little, so why not now? Call up the ones nearest to you, and see what volunteering opportunities they offer. Just think – you can visit the museum every day for free, and make other people’s experiences better at the same time!
Help out a family!
You’re an great babysitter, and you just love kids. So try sharing your services for free at a local family shelter. While the parents are looking for ways to get their family under their own roof, you can help them out by keeping the kids out of their hair. You’ll get to play with some super-cute babies, and maybe help give them a chance for a better life at the same time!
Set up a website for a organization!
Is there a local non-profit organization that you love? Ask them if they’d like you to set up a web page for them. Having a site on the web will really boost their popularity, and you’ll be saving them lots of money that they can then use to help whatever cause they’re supporting!!
Donate toys!
Gather up old toys and dolls from your house and from your best friends. Then clean up the toys, maybe sew the dolls new dresses, and donate them all to a local orphanage. You and your BFF's may be too old for those dolls, but there’s no reason other kids can’t make some new memories with them!
Use your art talents to help others!
You feel pretty sad when you drive by all that graffiti that’s bringing down your gorgeous neighborhood. Well, stop feeling sad, and cover it up with your own colors. If you’ve got some artistic talent, let it shine, girl! Paint a positive mural over that graffiti so you can put a smile on your neighbors’ faces every time they drive by!!
I hope this tip helped!! You can PM me any time for requests, or if you just want to talk. :)
